"I’m still filming it, I was on set yesterday. I’m just having the best time," Sivan said in a February interview when asked about his experience shooting The Idol. "I think because [filming] has been such a long time and it’s been so consistent I feel like, 'Oh, I could really, really do this.' Not even from an ability point of view, just from an enjoyment point of view. I’m having such a good time and the quality of every single aspect of a production like this is so inspiring to watch. It’s just a crazy experience, it’s been so fun."

Jennie was first seen in the recently released teaser trailer, where she appears very briefly three times in choreography and dance rehearsal scenes. Details of her role have not been released but HBO confirmed the casting on social media. “Jennie Kim has been cast in #THEIDOL,” the network said in a tweet.
